"Rock The Block" Concert Series

Movies in the Park

September 8-29, 2023

Enjoy a night under the stars and watch a movie outdoors! Movies start at dusk (between 7:30-7:45pm). Enjoy activities by Mobile Recreation starting at 6:00pm! Popcorn, hot dogs, candy, and drinks will be available for sale starting at 6:00pm.

San Mateo’s Annual Bayfront Cleanup

September 23, 2023

Stop by anytime from 8-11:30 a.m. to help cleanup the bay and support our environment. Afterwards, we’ll be hosting our popular volunteer appreciation picnic with a BBQ, music, and prizes. It’s San Mateo's largest, longest-running volunteer shoreline cleanup event and brings community awareness to cleaning up and protecting our marine environment in the San Francisco Bay. In 2022 more than 630 volunteers collected 14 cubic yards of waste and 8 gallons of cigarette butts were collected from our shoreline, lagoon, and San Mateo Creek. The City is hoping for even more volunteers in 2023

Train Ride & Scavenger Hunt

September 23, 2023

 All Aboard, Peninsula! and experience how riding climate-friendly transit can be sustainable and fun. The ride will start in Menlo Park on the Library Lawn with storytime, before riding Caltrain up to San Mateo, where attendees can disembark for a scavenger hunt and refreshments on B Street, the vibrant pedestrian mall in downtown. The adventure ends in San Francisco, where attendees can tour Caltrain’s electric trains that are planned to be in operation next year.

Planning Commission – Draft General Plan 2040

September 26. 2023

At this meeting the Planning Commission will review the Strive San Mateo Draft General Plan 2040. The General Plan lays out the community’s vision for how our City will look, feel, and change over the next 20 years. Since 2018, we’ve been gathering community input, which has been incorporated into the final Draft General Plan. The Planning Commission will review the Draft General Plan and recommend any revisions needed.

The Fall Fest

September 30, 2023

Enjoy a wide variety of music, entertainment, local arts and street vendors, gastronomical delights, and family-friendly activities as you stroll down B Street. Craft beer and cider as well as a selection of local wines will be available for purchase to quench your thirst. The event is free and open to the public. It is expected to draw 5,000 + attendees from throughout the Bay Area.

Vitalant Blood Drive

Pink Patch Party

October 7, 2023

This is a FREE public event benefitting newly diagnosed Breast Cancer patients
and is hosted by the San Mateo Police Officers' Association! This event will feature a beer garden, bounce house, donut eating contest, raffles, live music, animals with the Human Society that you can pet, Police Dunk Tank, Police Vehicle Display, and drones and K9 Presentations!

Dia de Los Muertos

This event is FREE and run by the San Mateo Police Activities League and The City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department. Highlights include Arts and crafts, an inflatable obstacle course, live music, dance performances, food for sale, craft vendors, a car show, and community booths!

San Mateo Rotary Foundation 5K & 10K Fun Run/Walk

October 22, 2023

The San Mateo Rotary Foundation Fun Run/Walk is back, and it's happening in October! Get ready to sweat it out and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts as they support our local community and provide four-year college scholarships. The SMRF hopes to see you there for a fantastic morning of exercise and inspiration. This event will be a roaring Rotary success with your help!

Boos on B Street & Trick or Treating

October 28, 2023

Join the City of San Mateo for carnival games, activities for the kids, crafts, and trick or treat through the Downtown businesses! Grab lunch first and head on over, or enjoy the event then grab dinner! Costumes are welcomed and are highly encouraged!This event is run by the City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department and the Downtown San Mateo Association.
